Bonnet Gas Strut

Like tailgate gas struts, bonnet gas struts help open the vehicle's bonnet and keep it up. So you can work efficiently in the engine bay, change the fluids – including oil and washer fluids, and access the transmission, front shocks, timing system, and other engine bay critical components.

Broken bonnet struts can cause issues when lifting your bonnet. Some bonnets are particularly heavy and big, so you may struggle. Also, not all cars have a bonnet prop and rely solely on the struts to keep it open. Plus, if the bonnet struts fail while open and you're working on it, it could be severely dangerous, causing an injury if it falls.

When you lift the hood of your car, the bonnet gas struts compress and store energy, which helps keep the hood in the open position. When you close the hood, the energy is released and the struts expand, gently lowering the hood and preventing it from slamming shut.

Over time, bonnet gas struts can become worn or damaged, resulting in a weakened or failed lifting mechanism. If this occurs, it’s important to replace them promptly to ensure safe and efficient operation of your vehicle’s hood.
